New Baby Stuff – The Essentials

Truth be told, most of the things you “have to have” when it comes to a new baby are actually “nice-to-haves” or “don’t needs.” That said, there are a few things that you, and your new baby, can’t live without. Make sure you have these on hand before you head to the hospital, so that you’re ready to go when you bring your new baby home. And if you think you’ll have time and energy to make a quick run to the store to pick up necessities after the fact, think again. The only really good advice I ever received prior to having our first kid was an older gentleman down the street who looked at me, smiled, shook his head, and said, “I’d give you advice about what to do with a new baby, but the truth is there is nothing I can say that will prepare you for what you’ve gotten yourself into. Take all the advice you’ve gotten and throw it out the window. You learn on the job with this one.” Boy was he right. The one thing I have learned is that it’s hard to put into words how overwhelmed you’re going to be those first few weeks. Do yourself a favor and make sure you have these essentials on hand before your new baby arrives! And if you see a pattern here, you’re right. New babies do three things: eat, poop, and sleep. Make sure you have those needs covered, and you should be good to go.
