Baby Clothes For Those Cold Winter Months
People who live in colder climates and endure a true winter, such as Europe and the US, need a greater variety of baby clothing than those of us who live in a tropical climate. Here in the Philippines, our young baby can have one single wardrobe for the whole year, dressed for a continuous hot summer.
If your baby is born in the summer months, you will soon need to think about preparing her for winter; if she is born in the winter months, then your baby layette will need to include something warm and cosy to put your baby in.
As the baby gets a bit older, though more adult like jackets and coats will need to be added to the baby wardrobe.
Baby Jackets and Coats Are A Must In Cold Climates!
When most people think of baby clothes they will tend to think of cute little dressers or maybe sleepers. Rarely will they think of heavy winter coats and wind resistant jackets. In a cold climate, however (or on cold days in a warm climate), babies need the protection of a coat or jacket just as much as an adult does; in fact more so.
Fortunately you will find the designers of the best baby clothes are well aware of the needs of infants and toddlers. That includes the need for warm winter wear. You will find several designers who have designed and have designed several lines of very attractive coats, jackets, and other winter wear just for the babies and infants in your family. Most of these baby clothing lines are available in fine stores everywhere, as well as through mail order and online retailers. The examples listed here were found on the designer baby clothing site known as Tutti Bella (“all beautiful” in Italian).
Jean Bourget Hooded Baby Coat
For the days when the weather is cool, not “cold,” designer Jean Bourget offers a smart and attractive hooded Khaki Spring Coat. This baby coat has a lightly striped inner lining, four silver snap fasteners, and a left breast pocket, your little boy will be the coolest bambino on the campo da giuoco. This coat is available in sizes from three to twenty-four months.
Zutano Baby Girl Reversible Jacket
To help keep our older baby girls all warm and cosy, Zutano offers a gorgeous reversible Pink Print Jacket. Made of 100% cotton, this is a coat for double occasions with a pink floral print on one side and seersucker stripes on the other. The jacket zips in front and includes a hood. This excellent Zutano babywear comes in sizes from 24 months to five years and sells for $48.95.
Of course not everyone can afford to clothe their babies in designer styles at high prices. While $50-$60 is not a bad price for an older child’s winter coat, it is a bit steep for a baby’s coat that, purchased in September, will probably no longer fit by March the next year. For those looking for cheaper baby coats and jackets, in the US there’s Wal-Mart, Target, Kmart, and, for the more adventurous, Old Navy. Baby coats can be purchased at these locations for prices that are a bit more down to Earth, and the items will still keep the youngsters warm all winter long, which, after all, is the most important thing.
The point is that it is important to remember that babies feel the cold as much as we do, and need to be kept warm. When purchasing baby clothes, make sure that you allot space in both the budget and the closet for a good quality coat or jacket to protect your baby when the nights draw in and the cold weather starts to bite.
